Apply Now →The National Agri-trade and Food Safety Authority (NAFSA) is a statutory authority established under the NAFSA Act, 2026 — headquartered in Islamabad with jurisdiction extending across Pakistan. It replaces the Department of Plant Protection and the Animal Quarantine Department to unify regulatory oversight.
NAFSA is mandated to regulate imports, exports and transit trade of agri-products — including plant-based, animal-based products and agro-chemicals — and ensure compliance with international frameworks such as the WTO's SPS measures, IPPC, Codex Alimentarius, and the World Animal Health Organisation.

Mandate
National Agri-Trade, Food Safety & SPS Compliance
Leads risk assessment, plant health, animal health, SPS policy formulation, and international standards alignment for Pakistan's agri-trade framework.
Manages inspection and quarantine controls at points of entry/exit, enforcement of food safety standards, business operator supervision and biosecurity measures.
Oversees HR, finance, procurement, legal, media, asset management, and secretariat functions to support NAFSA's nationwide operations.
